New Masonry Walls and Beam-and-Block Floors Digest

The Concrete Block Association (CBA) has supported the creation of a new BRE Special Digest (SD4) for masonry walls and beam-and-block floors. This 24 page Digest explains how the requirements of the building regulations for conservation of fuel and power may be satisfied using aggregate concrete blocks. It gives information on the relevant regulations, showing various routes to compliance, together with a number of examples involving aggregate concrete block constructions. It is written for designers, architects and builders who may be considering using masonry, and for enforcers of the regulations who are assessing applications. Copies of the Digest are freely available from The Concrete Block Association, 60 Charles Street, Leicester LE1 1FB

The Concrete Block Association (CBA) is the trade body representing an industry of some 50 manufacturers producing around 60 million m2 of aggregate concrete building blocks per year from over 100 block plants nationwide. The humble aggregate block continues to dominate sales of building blocks, accounting for 7 of every 10 blocks sold.
